Being organic in architecture, the clients Frank Lloyd Wright inspired kitchen space, would be its design direction. Being harmonious to a prairie inspired environment, this would give the clients their distinctive design with the natural elements they both desired. Being newly retired, the clients wanted a functional kitchen that finally really made sense.
Transforming its existing galley kitchen with its small family room into one single open planned kitchen space, would give the couple more capabilities with their children’s growing family’s. A gathering place for large parties with its ultimate cooking space that could be meant for a true chef, was their dream. The need of a larger working kitchen space, high end appliances and a strong dramatic focal point showing off their new ceiling venting hood was a must.
The clients appreciated Frank Lloyd Wright’s love of nature and how he embraced all architecture for better living. Designing a free-flowing space with natural neutral elements and rich cherry cabinets would bring in a sense of calmness. My distinctive kitchen design, with removal of one unnecessary interior wall, gives a lighter feel and opens the kitchen’s elements to all of its natural surroundings.
